New Years Resolutions?

Hey Guys!

Can you believe that in a few short hours we'll be saying 'Auf Wiedersehen' to another year? 2013 has certainly been a crazy year, thankfully with more good memories than bad, and I am ready to welcome 2014 with open arms. I will be turning 18, leaving secondary school and hopefully starting my journey in college.

As most people attempt to do at the dawn of each new year, I shall try to make (and keep) some New Year's Resolutions.

1// Be Happy. I am quite a happy person, but sometimes when I'm tired from school and the mountain of study that faces me, I am not a very happy bunny. I am going to try to stay positive and look forward to the happy things .ie. summer that will cancel out the not-so- happy things ie. school :( My new mantra: Stay Positive and Be Happy!

2// Work Harder. I am a very hard worker in school, and my grades do show that, but I recently discovered another potential course that I might want to do in college, and the points required are higher than the other course I want to do. I had previously been aiming for a course for the past few years, and the points I achieved in my Christmas exams exceeded the required amount. But this new course requires even more points from me, so I really need to put my head down and work to get those points!

3// Snack Less. Despite eating quite healthily most of the time, if there is anything marginally unhealthy in the house, I am all over it before you can say 'chocolate'. My self- control in this area is not the strongest, so that is one of my New Years Resolutions, to know when to say no. I know a treat the odd time is needed, and I do indulge in that, but my self- control just needs to be just a smidge stronger.

So they are my main New Years Resolutions, I hope you didn't find this post boring and you may even have found it helpful! I wish you all a wonderful new year, and I hope you get everything you desire and more from 2014.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

xoxo, Emma

Christmas Countdown #9: Christmas Eve Essentials

Hey Guys!

I can't believe it's Christmas tomorrow- where has December gone?! I don't know about you guys, but I am ridiculously excited for tomorrow! On Christmas Eve, my family and I have a tradition where my sister and I open one present- Christmas PJs. After our showers and one final Christmas movie, we climb into our beds with fresh bed linen, in our new pajamas, to wait for Christmas morning. This year is no different, and my sister and I are getting onesies! Now onto my essentials for having a relaxing Christmas Eve.

1// Christmas Movies: These are some of my favorite Christmas movies, The Santa Clause series and The Snowman. I sing Walking in the air from the Snowman every year in my school choir, and it makes me feel so christmassy! I can't wait to snuggle up later

and watch these. Oh, Elf is a must- have too! ;)

2// Mince Pies: My sister and I made mince-pies the other day, you can find the recipes here, and for us,  mince pies are definitely necessary for Christmas Eve. Oh, and you have to leave a mince pie and a glass of milk out for Santa!

3// Hot Chocolate: Also necessary for having a relaxing Christmas Eve, is a steaming mug of hot chocolate. There's nothing better than sitting by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate, watching a nice Christmas movie <3

4// New Pyjamas: As I told you before, new PJs are essential for my sister and I on Christmas Eve. I can't wait to unwrap mine tonight!

5// Family: I know this is really cheesy, but Christmas Eve and Christmas Day just have to be spent with family, even if it's that one relative who insists on squeezing your cheek and telling you how old you've gotten. Just enjoy it, ok? <3

That's it for the penultimate post in my Christmas Countdown series. I really hope you've enjoyed it, I know I've had fun getting into the Christmas spirit with you all. I will do a short post tomorrow, but until then, I hope you have a great Christmas Eve, and relax. I hope Santa treats you all well!

Lots of love,

xoxo, Emma

P.S: Check out my sister's post, where she shows you a festive makeup look, perfect for Christmas Day.

It is everything I would ask for if money were no option, and trust me, this is just a snippet of what I want. If I won the lotto, I would be a very happy girl! As my mother says, I have very expensive taste, as you will see below.

Christmas Countdown #6: Christmas Market

Hey Guys!

I thought that because I am off school for the Christmas holidays that I would blog every day from now until Christmas. Today I went to the Christmas Food Market in Farmleigh, Dublin. It was my first time going to a christmas market, and I loved it! The food was amazing, fresh vegetables pulled from the ground that morning,  huge blocks of homemade fudge, and big steaming vats of mulled wine and hot chocolate. I think instead of writing a ton of stuff, I will let the pictures do the talking. So without further ado, onto the pictures!

My breakfast: Alpro Soy yoghurt, melon, pear, grapes and homemade granola

Am I the only one who didn't know Brussel Sprouts grew like this??

Fresh Beetroot

Shirt// Penneys
Faux Leather Skirt// Forever 21
Black Tights// Penneys
Black Ankle Boots// Topshop
Coat// Jack Wills

Massive turnips!

We left just before the storm!

So that's it for today guys. Despite being absolutely frozen to the bone, I really enjoyed myself at the food market, and I'm excited to try all of the amazing veg we bought! I hope you liked this post, and my little OOTD, and I will chat to you all tomorrow. I may or may not be making mince pies… you'll just have to wait and see!

Christmas Countdown #5: Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Recipe

Hey Guys!

I didn't post on Sunday as I was ridiculously busy, so I apologize for that! But today, I thought I would make a festive favorite, hot chocolate, with one of my favorite ingredients… Caramel! I don't know if you know this about me, but caramel is my weakness! I try to avoid it as much as possible, but I was making caramel shortbread for my Secret Santa person, so we had a whole tub of caramel just sitting in the fridge, begging to be used! I added in a touch of sea salt, as I love the combination of salt and caramel, but of course you could leave it out.

Ingredients: (Serves 1)

1 cup milk of choice (I use almond milk)
1-2 heaped tsp of cocoa powder
1 tbsp caramel (an easy recipe will be added below)
1/4tsp sea salt
Mini marshmallows, cream, anything you want really!

Method:

1. Heat up the milk in a saucepan, but don't boil.

2. Stir in the cocoa powder really well. You might need to give it a quick whisk just to get rid of any lumps.

3. Add in the caramel (as much as you'd like) and sea salt if desired.

4. Pour into your favorite mug and add in marshmallows, cream, chocolate flakes or whatever you like with your hot chocolate. You could even drizzle on some more caramel ;)

5. Snuggle up with your hot chocolate and your favorite Christmas Movie and relax!

*Caramel Recipe:

Put an unopened can of condensed milk in a big pan and fill the pan with plenty of water, enough to cover the whole can of condensed milk. Boil the can for 3 hours, and make sure to keep topping up the water so the can always stays covered. After 3 hours, carefully take out the can with tongs and put into a pot of cold water. The condensed milk will have turned into thick, delicious caramel that you can use in banoffee pie, caramel squares and of course, this hot chocolate! Please be very careful with the can as it will be boiling hot and you could burn yourself.

That's it guys for my favorite caramel hot chocolate recipe, I hope you try it out, send me a picture on Instagram!

See you on Sunday,

xoxo, Emma
