Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette

Hey Guys!

Picture my face on Christmas morning as I went into the sitting room and saw the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette perched beside my stocking in all its gold, shiny glory. Now times that by 1000 and you might come close to how I really felt. I have been seriously lusting after this palette since its launch and the influx of snapchats, instagrams and tweets about it. And now it's all mine!

Amazing packaging aside, I mean just look at it, the 15 shadows inside are beautifully pigmented and can be used together in so many different ways to create simple matte nude looks with Anaheim, Stark and Zone (my fave), slightly grungier looks with the taupe and grey shades like Punk, Steady and Serious, or go all out with a not so subtle pop on the lids with the bright pink, blue and gold shades like Harajuku, Danger, 1987.

L-R: Blonde, Bathwater, Skimp, Steady, Punk, Baby, Anaheim, Stark, Zone, Serious, Pop, Harajuku, Danger, 1987, Blackout
There's only one shade I experienced any form of fallout with, and that was Pop, the baby pink shimmer that would look amazing popped (see what I did there?) on the middle of the lid as a highlight to brighten up a darker look.

If you'd like to see a video about a few of my favourite looks from the palette, just let me know!

Have you tried this palette yet?

xoxo, Emma

P.S: Happy New Year's Eve, I hope you really enjoy it, no matter how you spend it!

Christmas Wishes

Hey Guys!

I hope you are all totally relaxed right now, all gift wrapping is done, feet up, Christmas jammies on and Christmas movies on the TV. I'm currently in my brand new Harry Potter Christmas PJs, a box of chocolate biscuits nearby and we're about to watch Magic Mike XXL. Don't know how that will pan out with the family watching together, but sure what can you do? ;)

I'd like to thank you all for reading this little blog this year and watching my YouTube videos. It truly means the world to me, so thank you again! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I promise (I really do this time!) to upload posts and videos more often in 2016. The workload in college totally eases off after my placement in January, so I'm all yours after that!

Until then, enjoy the few videos I have scheduled for the next week or two, and most importantly, enjoy Christmas with your friends and family!

Christmas Gift Ideas For Your Parents

Hey Guys!

Long time no chat! I have been super busy as I've just finished a three week teaching placement, and I've also had literally no motivation to write blog posts, if I'm brutally honest. Today I thought I would start my Christmas Gift Guides for 2015. Over the course of the countdown to Christmas, I will be posting gift guides that will hopefully make your gift shopping experience just that little bit easier.

So for my first Christmas Gift Guide, I thought it would be a good idea to begin with gifts for your parents/ guardians/ life givers, whatever you want to call them, or I suppose the gifts would also work for any older relatives you might have such as aunties, uncles or grandparents.

For female relatives (mom, aunt, grandmother etc.)

Other gift ideas: Cuddly dressing gown/ PJs/ slippers (try Penneys for some gorgeous ones!), her favourite chocolates or flowers, earrings, bracelets.

For male relatives (dad, uncle, grandfather etc.)

Other gift ideas: A 2016 Calendar, a fancy pen (a bit like this one), slippers, hankies (a classic in my house!), his favourite aftershave.

So that wraps up my first gift guide of 2015! I hope you enjoyed this post and got some good ideas for gifts from it. I had so much fun putting this post together so I can't wait to share the next one with you all. Hint: It may or may not be beauty related ;)

Essie's Bahama Mama

Hey Guys!

I am obsessed with this polish from Essie at the moment, it is the perfect Autumn/Winter shade that I know I'll be reapplying time and time again this season. When teamed with a top coat, I used a clear Rimmel polish, Bahama Mama lasted just over a week without chipping. Yes, you heard right, no chipping.

I love a good burgundy shade, so this is right up my street, and I've also been wearing a lot of monochrome and all black looks lately so this is a nice, modest pop of colour on my nails without being too in your face. An all-round winner, really.

What is your go-to Autumn nail polish at the moment?

Until next time,

Xoxo, Emma

How To Maintain Your Summer Glow

Hey Guys!

So the weather has officially turned from warm and sunny (well it has for people who live in a country with actual seasons) to crisp and cool, meaning our summer glow, whether real or not is beginning to fade. I thought I'd put a few tips together to help you maintain that summer tan for as long as possible.

Water: Pretty obvious, but your skin will glow and look healthier when you're properly hydrated. I have noticed on the days I don't drink enough water (try drink 2 litres a day) that my skin looks a little dull and feels tight. Drink up!

Moisturise: I can't stress this enough, you can never moisturise too much! I moisturise my whole body really well every single night, regardless of whether I've been out and am only home at 4am ;) I love using aloe vera, especially this one as they are completely natural and have no scents which can irritate skin. I've been moisturising every day for the last few years and it all pays off when people ask you if you're wearing fake tan nearly a year after you've been on holidays.

Exfoliation: You might think that exfoliating would essentially rub your tan off, but a nice gentle scrub every now and then is important to get rid of dead skin cells that can make your skin look dull and dry. Try to use a natural scrub such as brown sugar and olive oil or a simple coffee one.

So those are my top three tips on maintaining that summer glow well into fall/ winter time!

What are your tips for keeping your skin glowy all year round?

xoxo, Emma

Real Techniques Haul

Hey Guys!

I posted about Real Techniques brushes a while ago, and how I get them cheaper by buying them from the Real Techniques website, and today I'm back with another haul!

What really tempted me onto the site was the email I received letting me know that you got a free Expert Face Brush when you buy the new Deep Cleansing Gel. I thought, what better time to get it than when it's cheap and you get a free brush with it? I am so excited to try the cleansing gel out, and I will definitely do a more in depth review when I have given it a proper trial run.

Next up is the Sculpting Brush, one I've wanted to buy for a while. It is one of the newest brushes in the original range and it looks like a good 'un! Perfect for contouring and maybe even applying a highlight of the tops of the cheekbones, it is just the type of brush I have been on the hunt for.

Finally, another long-lusted-for product, the Miracle Complexion Sponge. I have heard great things about this beauty sponge, especially from my sister and as I don't wear foundation on a daily basis, I'll be using this for bopping and blending my concealer out.

Have you tried any of these Real Techniques products?

My Style Icon: Shay Mitchell Inspired OOTD

Hey Guys!

I have loved Shay Mitchell's style for such a long time and I regularly check her instagram to browse through her OOTDs for holiday style inspo. She loves a good pair of high waisted denim shorts paired with a bardot style off-the-shoulder top- right up my street when it comes to summer style!

So, when I came across the Boohoo My Style Icon competition, I just knew I had to recreate one of Shay's looks. Here is my take on this outfit. How do you think I did?

Hey Guys!

I have a super exciting post for you all; I have been given the chance to giveaway a year's supply of Water Wipes!

Here's what the lovely folks over at Water Wipes have to say about their wipes:

WaterWipes are the World’s purest facial wipes – no sting, no skin-tightness and no chemical residue. After a long day of festival fun, when your face has taken a beating from makeup, sun, sweat and dirt, a good cleansing routine is essential.  With a few simple sweeps, WaterWipes gently remove every last bit of make-up and grime, plus they'll leave skin feeling pure, fresh and detoxed.

As you can see from yesterday's post- my sister's festival essentials, she really likes these wipes, as do I, for a snappy bedtime routine, so I am so excited to be doing this giveaway for you!

To enter, simply use the Rafflecopter system below, and the competition is open from August 30th to September 13th. I will choose a winner then and get in touch with you!

Good Luck!

My Sister's Festival Essentials

Hey Guys!

I really wanted to do a little Festival Essentials post, but having never been to one, I don't think it would be a particularly practical post. However, what I lack in festival knowledge, my sister, Rebekah, certainly doesn't. So without further ado, take it away, Rebekah!

Festival season is still upon us, with Electric Picnic looming for many Irish people.. Unfortunately I missed the chance to get myself an EP ticket this year – thanks to the event becoming completely sold out. However I have booked a little break with 4 of my friends to Marbella, leaving Monday so I guess I didn’t do too badly ;)

I digress – back to festival essentials. I wouldn’t call myself a complete festival pro or anything but I have been to a good few over the years including the London-based Lovebox back in July, and EP last year. I know my first “proper” festival experience (aka camping, minimal personal hygiene and stodgy over-priced food) was quite a daunting thought so hopefully this list will help a few of you festival-noobs or veterans out there. These tips are based on camping at a festival but either way these items wouldn’t hurt you to have at day events.

1// Wet Wipes
You know that age old question of “if you were stranded on a desert island, what item would you bring?”. Well, first of all what an impractical question as surely if you could forecast being stranded you wouldn’t be stranded- no? Anyway, wet wipes would for sure be on my list of essentials. Not just for festivals, they are so useful in every day life. I am obsessed with these ones in particular – Water Wipes. They contain only 3 ingredients – water, dead sea minerals and fruit extract, so are completely void of nasty chemicals like other wipes on the market. Perfect size for putting in your little backpack/bumbag/crossbody for festivals –  an essential for those much needed portaloo breaks. You can find the company here and you can buy them in most Dunnes, Tesco etc.

P.S: I have a really exciting surprise for you all tomorrow so stay tuned!

2// Hand Sanitizer
I couldn’t live without a hand sanitizer at festivals – portaloos, dusty/muddy ground, rubbish everywhere, eating with your hands – did I mention how fun festivals are? No, but seriously you need to pack a mini hand sanitizer if you are heading to a festival.

3// Dry Shampoo
Yes I know there are showers in most campsites – and EP actually has a pretty good one, but who wants to waste 3 hours of valuable festival time queueing for a shower then waiting for your hair to dry? If like me, your hair hates you, dry shampoo is your best friend. Batiste is a classic and works well but Aussie also do a great one and leaves the hair less tacky.

4// Toilet Paper
No one said packing for a festival was glamorous but toilet roll will become your best friend and even a source of additional income if needs be. People in my campsite last year were actually selling toilet roll due to a shortage towards the end of the weekend.

5// Snacks
Unless you want to spend a small fortune on stodgy fast food for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the 3 day weekend, you should definitely pack some snacks. Breakfast bars, popcorn, rice cakes – whatever floats your boat.

6// Suncream
You may be thinking I am a bit optimistic about this one but seriously never underestimate the Irish sun. Even if it's cloudy make sure you have some SPF on, you would be surprised what gets through those clouds.

7// Plasters
Wet feet + rubber wellies = blisters. Plasters are a godsend if your feet are giving you trouble. Tripping over tents in the pitch dark is also common so prepare yourself for some extra grazes.

8// Torch
Continuing on from tip no. 7 above – to prevent said clumsy trips a torch will make your life a whole lot easier (and less painful) at night-time whilst trying to locate your tent.

9// Wellies
I know, how cliché of me – but seriously you will regret wearing those brand new Nikes in all the mud and glory of a festival campsite. Your Nikes can thank me later.

10// WATER!
Don’t forget to drink tons of water – you wont believe how quickly you can become dehydrated when you’re distracted going to sets and generally having a good time. To prevent any short-lived festival weekends from dehydration and sickness try to keep sipping water all day. It won't hurt the hangover in the morning either.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and if you're lucky enough to be going to any festivals, have fun and just know how jealous I am of you!

Make sure to check back tomorrow for a super special blog post ;)

xoxo, Emma

Just A Little Note

Hey Guys!

I thought I would put up a little post as I'm going on my holidays to Portugal later this evening, so there won't be a blog post next week! I am so excited as I've never been, and it'll be an opportunity to explore, recharge, eat new foods and (hopefully) get a good tan ;)

I have, however, scheduled a video on my YouTube channel which will go up on Tuesday at 8am, so don't forget to check that out.

Catch you on the flip side!

Cheeky LUSH Haul

Hey Guys,

You may have seen that I went into Dublin to meet Marcus Butler on Wednesday (still not over it), but I also went into LUSH and myself and my sister spent about 40 minutes in there, chatting to the lovely workers and checking out their new range which I am totally in love with. My sister and I were quite clever and bought stuff that we could both use so if you want to see what else we bought, check out my sister's blog post.

The first thing I spotted was the new Comforter shower cream, a bright pink moisturising shower gel which is the sister product of the Comforter bubble bar, a cult lush product. Its colour is just so eye-catching and it you're a fan of sweet cassis then you will love this!

Next up is something I picked up on a whim but I am so happy I did; the Popcorn lip scrub. I had the Mint Julips one years ago and I really prefer the scent of this one, a caramel-y, salty scent that is just right up my street. It's all natural so you just rub it on and lick it off! It's loaded with coconut oil which moisturises the lips as well as exfoliating them.

My hands are drier than the Sahara at times so I'm constantly on the lookout for treatments and hand creams so I don't look like a 12 year-old with 90 year-old hands. I spotted the Golden Handshake hand mask immediately as it's sparkly and on a stick. You swirl it around in warm water, allowing it to thicken before soaking your hands for 15 minutes and rinsing off. I am so excited to try this one out!

Finally, I spotted this at the till; the Pumice Power foot exfoliator, loaded with orange oils and natural pumice. I tend to neglect my feet so every now and then I have to do a major exfoliate and moisturise to keep them looking marginally acceptable in sandals. You simply wet this and scrub your feet- it lathers up as well as exfoliating, so moisturisers the fresh, smooth skin.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about the few bits I picked up in LUSH!

Insta Catch Up #1

Hey Guys,

I've seen an increasing amount of bloggers do blogposts where they compile the instagram pictures they have uploaded in a certain month and put it together into one picture- heavy post. I really do have a penchant for photography and having a blog has really helped that hobby flourish. I'm currently on the hunt for a 'big girl' camera, or in other words, one that isn't hot pink with a dent in it from when I "accidentally" threw it on the floor. No matter how neglected my blog or youtube channel may get, rest assured that my instagram will be full of colourful pictures that you can have a gander at, so here is my insta feed from July 2015.

the beautiful beach in wexford; feeling spend in mac; delish vegan dark chocolate, almond butter banana bread; my fave flowers from M&S; fulfilling my lifelong dream of being a mermaid on the rocks; the stunning village at lyons where I worked in a children's cookery school this summer

Let me know if you think this should be a permanent feature on the blog!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Xtreme Mascara

Hey Guys!

Today I'll be giving you the low-down on my current mascara fave; Rimmel Scandaleyes Xtreme. The packaging is what really caught my eye, I mean it's neon coral, so that's not hard to do! This mascara is definitely one that ages well; it works better for me when it's a little drier.

The wand is really interesting as on one side you have the lengthening side which is a slim, standard plastic wand that you can really wiggle into the base of the lashes to achieve great length. The other side is curved, allowing you to layer up for a good bit of volume that is always welcome in my books!

This is the best mascara I've used in a while, as I've been trying some that are much more lengthening and separating than curling and volumising, the latter being a quality I way prefer in a mascara.

Have you tried this mascara? Will you be giving it a go?

My Go-To Vegan Pancake Recipe

Hey Guys!

I thought I'd do something a little bit different on the blog today; a recipe. I love cooking and baking, and I actually already have a health food blog with my sister, but I've only ever posted one recipe on this blog. It was a salted caramel hot chocolate recipe from a few years ago, I think, but I wanted to share my recipe for the perfect vegan pancakes with you all today.

These are so fluffy and the batter can be whipped up in about 3 minutes. The longest part is the cooking process, but that can't be helped! The pancakes are processed sugar free, vegan, and can be gluten free if so desired, and topped with maple syrup and a few berries, you really can't go wrong.

1 cup flour (I used 1/2 gluten free and 1/2 wholegrain spelt)
1 teaspoon baking powder (omit if using self-raising flour)
Small pinch of salt
1 cup almond milk, or milk of choice
2 tablespoons olive or melted coconut oil
2 tablespoons liquid sweetener of choice (I used maple syrup)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
Heat a frying pan with a little bit of oil (I prefer coconut oil), before lowering the pan down to a medium heat when the oil has melted fully.
Pour a tablespoonful of batter onto the pan and flip when bubbles appear on the surface and the edges look dry.

Cook for another minute on the other side before sliding onto a plate.

Repeat with the rest of the pancakes until all of the batter is gone.

Serve with maple syrup and some fresh berries.

I hope you like the recipe!

xoxo, Emma

Rose Gold Nails

Hey Guys!

I am officially finished my first year in college, and it's SUMMER TIME! I am so excited to finally have time to blog and film videos!
Today, I thought I'd show you what I currently have on my nails. It's one of the Revlon Scented Polishes in 'Beachy', a gorgeous rose gold shade with a subtle fresh, you guessed it, beachy scent when painted on the nails.

The longevity is pretty good. With two coats, and no topcoat, the polish lasted about three days without chipping, which for me is about average. I also adore the little bottle with the spherical cap, it looks so pretty on my shelves. There are loads of colours in the scented range, so I might pick up another when I go shopping today... we'll see!

Also, I can't not talk about my henna which I think is just amazing! One of my best friends did it for me, and I'm already thinking of all of the other designs I could get when this one wears off.

Have you tried any of the Revlon Scented Polishes?

SoSu Nail Polish Review

Hey Guys!

I'm back today with a little review of Suzanne Jackson (AKA SoSueMe)'s new nail polish range.
I picked up 'Rock Candy', a gorgeous blue-toned pink that I thought would be the perfect Spring/Summer transition shade. Unfortunately, the polish just didn't live up to my expectations.

Firstly, I love the packaging, although my particular bottle was covered in sticky tape, hence the few dog hairs (ew) stuck to the top. But, inside, the product just doesn't work for me. Upon first application, I thought 'Oooh so smooth!' but then adding another coat seemed to make it streaky and the polish just didn't 'settle down' for a nice, even finish. The polish also took an absolute age to dry, resulting in me having to remove it all and start again after waiting half an hour for it to dry, but still getting it all over my black jeans as I was getting changed!

Longevity was the biggest let-down for me with this nail polish as it barely lasted a day before chipping like crazy! I like to test longevity with nail polishes by using them without a top coat, and generally polishes last 3-4 days without any noticeable chips.

Have you tried any of the SoSu nail polishes? If so, how have you found them?

xoxo, Emma

Steely Grey OOTN

Hey Guys!

That feels so strange to type after 2 MONTHS. Yes, it's been 2 whole months since my last blog post! I really have no excuse apart from my poor time management. I was away for 2 weeks in the Gaeltacht, and since then I've been bombarded with assignments, presentations and fun college things like that. One fun thing, and not 'fun' in the sarcastic, totally un-fun way, was the Ball I attended. My course holds a ball every year and being a Freshman, I got to go for the first time! I am currently editing a Get Ready With Me for my YouTube channel, so that should be up by Sunday, if not tomorrow evening.

Anyway, I thought I'd give you a sneak peak of what I wore, and you may have already seen a few pictures on my Instagram, which is the one thing I've managed to keep updated!

I wore this beautiful dress from ChiChi London on Asos which received plenty of compliments ;) I love this tea length style and although I could have done with the size 6, I felt comfortable the whole night long.

My shoes are Carvela by Kurt Geiger and I bought them for my Debs last September. They are fine to walk in, but after 7+ hours in them, they start to pinch just a little (read: a lot).

To see how I did my makeup, check out my video when it goes live!

xoxo, Emma
